Do they actually come from different stores etc or is it just a preference in style/colours?

Over here, the young adults (20-26) and work-aged adults (27-70) don’t necessarily wear very different clothings. Yes, there are some items you don’t see on the other age group, like young women very rarely wear the typical “office” outfit that’s a combination of low-heel closed-toe shoes, skin-coloured stockings and a knee-length skirt (that might be matched with a formal jacket). And adults usually don’t wear the bolder crop tops or very genZ-like trendy outfits combining a bucket hat, super wide 3/4-trousers and extra chunky white trainers. But other than that… people of every age might wear a hoodie, or a dress with sneakers, or T-shirts with a very bold statement, or boring “business casual”.

The elderly, on the other hand (70+)… Yes, there are Old People’s Clothes™. Many of them don’t own any clothing items from any of the stores that most younger people go to. They wear a lot of brown, grey and dark blue coats during the cold season. I’m not saying it is necessarily bad, but it just stands out. I remember being so surprised in my childhood by the Swedish/Norwegian/Finnish/German older tourists, because **they did not wear old people clothes**. It was very odd to me to see old people wearing actual items that I, too, might buy from the same store. (Also that they were happy and fit and went travelling together, this is just not what being an old person was like in my hood when I was young, but that warrants a separate post).

So how is it in your country?

  1. I felt old when I saw a group of genZ (or younger genY) boys shopping for clothes together so they could ask each other for feedback.

  2. Like everywhere else in the world. Gen Z wear their Gen Z things( think Maddison Beer/Charlie Amelio style), Millennials wear what Millennials wear, and older people wear just basic clothing, nothing over the top. If you want to see what people in Croatia wear, I recommend checking out this site: https://www.cromoda.com/ and this one: https://www.stylezagreb.com/
    They post Croatian street styles.
