Nice day in Palermo, forecast is good for this weekend…I might head to the beach tomorrow.
Do you live near enough to a beach to go there when you feel like it? Or do you have to make a special trip?
Wouldn’t it in some weird way be a little bit freeing not to have a side of the bed? Seems like everybody who shares a bed with a partner has a side. But it occurred to me that not having that, just sleeping on whatever side feels right at whatever moment, that’s actually what I’d prefer. Somewhere out there is a person waiting to be loved by me who also doesn’t wish to submit to the oppressive social institution that is a side of the bead.
I was at an event recently where one of the speakers was a Swedish speaking Finn. He spoke in Finnish and I didn’t know he was Fennoswedish, although his name in retrospect perhaps should have been a clue, and I kept thinking he speaks kinda funny and slow. He spoke very good Finnish, but it was just uncanny enough that I thought maybe he has just gotten a bit slower in his cognitive process as he’s gotten older.
Then at one point the fact he is Fennoswedish came up and suddenly it all made sense. It’s not the first time I’ve been caught out by not realising somebody isn’t speaking in their first language. It happens to me with Fennoswedish people speaking Finnish, especially at home since it’s a monolingual area. Don’t expect it.
I have reached the limit of procrastination on this paper. I have done everything else. Now I have to sit down and finish it. But the weather is so nice. Maybe I could make a coffee. Coffee is good. I did open the document, which is more than what I did yesterday. Fuck my life. Should make a TikTok account? I heard people procrastinate on TikTok. Literally anything but review this paper again.
I have also failed to spell procrastinate two times in a row. And now a third time. Thank god for LanguageTool.
Ok we’re doing this. Here we go. Come on. For Frodo.
Over the past weeks I tried cheeses that I never buy. Mostly moldy/soft cheese, branded and cheapo stuff. Camembert not my thing but Brie I liked alot, Saint Albray was very good. Bergader Almzeit and Schärdinger Österkron were fantastic. I used to buy the same sliced cheeses all the time, this made me appreciate other sorts aswell and diversify.
Most of my assignments for teacher’s college have an optional deadline for feedback this coming Tuesday.
I’ve done a bunch of them, but I won’t get everything done by Tuesday evening.
M’eh. I’m doing what I can and I’m not going to sweat the rest.
Man finally got a job offer after almost a year and what must be 300 applications. I don’t like the location, PTO, or pay though; I don’t think I can be that happy about it unfortunately. But it will get me back to a real job even if it’s playing garbage man to a corporate pharma lab. Well I hope somewhere else I interviewed for respond with something better in the next few days.
I wonder why politicians were screaming about a lack of STEM talent not that long ago. To justify more work visas for those jobs, lobbying by companies, ignorance, or something else? I highly doubt there’s a shortage of anyone but the one in a million geniuses. I’ve seen a disturbing share of my more experienced coworkers with masters degrees and decades of experience taking forever to find anything or competing with me for entry level roles. It was better a few years ago, but still kind of shit.
Oh yeah, I heard relative of mine who just graduated not long ago is about to be getting a layoff.
If you’re not currently watching Invincible’s season 4, you should. If not for the story, just for two very beloved voice actors and their history as enemies on screen and friends in real life.
I recently traveled for a short break to Iceland and Norway, and it struck me again how beautiful and wonderful and varied all Europe is! Loved the forests and trails in Norway.
Continuing with my Northern tour, Finland is next on my list. Then Central/South with Romania, Hungary… Can’t wait, even if it’s a plan for the coming years rather than months 🙂
Try marinated egg yolks as a kind of spread (+ a spoonful of their marinade) on a buttered toast, it’s glorious.
I have an old phone I use as a backup of my current one, like I synchronize my data, and everything on it every once in a while. Well, if you do the same thing or plan to do that, never leave for vacations abroad without checking its battery level. If you let it sit on an empty battery for more than a few weeks, it will die for good.
