Do you know the song ‘Band on the Run’ by Paul McCartney?
If you do, what do you think of this type of ‘pop song’? It has 3 completely separate sections that are kind of stuck together but don’t seem to have much in common with each other..do you think that works for pop music?
[I framed my Hobbiton Doors](https://imgur.com/a/PwqfXw5). Frankly, it doesn’t look great. The frame isn’t the right size (turns out the paper size is very non-standard) and the orange wall behind is hideous (this house will be renovated so I didn’t bother to repaint). But I don’t care, I love it. It’s the first thing that I painted that I bothered to hang on a wall.
The figure skating gala yesterday was so much fun. There were so many great routines. I wish there were more Olympic galas. What about a skeleton gala? Or 100 m sprint gala?
Great gold game between USA and Canada. Everybody would have preferred for it to end in regulation, but nonetheless, great win by USA. Their goalie was amazing, he made one absolutely mental stick save that looked like a sure goal for Canada. Canada also missed a lot of great opportunities, including a completely empty net from two meters away. I can’t believe McKinnon missed that. They had a lot of opportunities to win, but USA ended doing so.
Besides my distaste for American foreign policy, I think I actually secretly preferred this result anyway. Canada has won enough in ice hockey. Plus some Canadians on the ice hockey subreddits always provide the best entertainment by being, uhmm, quite sore after a loss. It’s fun to browse through lmao.
Oh yes, and Finland won bronze yesterday. Wasn’t a great game, end score as 6-1. I wasn’t particularly pleased, I was hoping we’d be playing today. Maybe in 4 years.
Closing ceremony for the Olympics is in a bit. I was saying I’m not going to watch it but it turns out I did. Whoops.
I can’t believe that Norway and Denmark got 41 medals together. Nordic countries are so good at winter sports.
Except bob. Germans own bob. I am hopeless with steering but I wondee if I can become a second man. I am quite small and get horribly motion sick but I guess that’s all not a big deal.
Some of us outsiders believe EU should send a coalition of troops to Ukraine to enforce existing front-lines and provide air cover. Tell Putin, “We’ll stay until you negotiate”. It would show both USA (Trump) and Russia that the UE “has teeth”. To be frank, EU has reputation for endless dithering, which is interpreted as weakness by big nations. Do note military endeavors often boost economies, so there are fringe benefits.
