  1. The prince of my heart, love of my life, sweet baby of figure skating, Yuma Kagiyama did so well in the Men’s short program yesterday… Except one single falter after a relatively easy jump (after he nailed a few harder ones, but such is life). Sadly at the top there’s not too much room for error and it seems like Ilya Malinin may be hard to beat… But okay, I don’t care. He’s such a joy to watch and I love him to bits.

I heard that after the team event the medal winnings teams went on the podium to get their medals, while wearing their skates (the podiums were on ice). But the podium was made of concrete 🤦‍♀️ so they ruined their skates and had to have them sharpened. Anyhow, some Olympic tea.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I hate hate hate cars where all functions are regulated via a touchscreen. Whoever thought this is a good idea must have never driven a car before. A knob that you can turn is so much safer and easier than fumbling with a fiddly touchscreen.

  2. I always like learning new words in English. This morning I read for the first time the term ‘hobosexual’.Have you ever heard of or used this word?

It’s a broke guy, permanently broke and unemployed, who moves in with a woman and basically lives off her money… I’d say it’s extremely unusual here in Italy (unless it’s the guys mother;-), but perhaps more common in the US and some other countries.

  3. In today’s news: approximately 1/3 of Finnish youth think getting a driver’s license is currently too easy. You can apply for a “special permit” to get a license at the age of 17, and 31% of those cohorts are now getting it, rather than the regular age of 18.

Within the past couple of years, there have been several fatal accidents where the driver has been 17 and has shown horrible recklessness with a car full of their friends. In one of the most dramatic ones, the driver drove the car off a cliff in a quarry, and while he and one of the passengers survived, two drowned as the car fell into water at the bottom of the quarry.

Authorities are now suggesting to make the special permit harder to get, as well as putting limitations to driving during night time.

  4. I see that in Estonia they have opened an official ‘ice road ‘, connecting two islands across the sea.

Apparently passengers must keep their seatbelts off and have their car doors ready to open,in case the ice collapses into the sea beneath them…

  5. Today I visited the city art museum to check out their new exhibition. Their last exhibition until the museum closes in the summer for restoration and construction of a new wing. It’ll only open again in 2030. That’s like a million years from now. Our city has basically only two really great art museums, so we’ll have to do with just one for four years.

The exhibition was nice. It was just the greatest hits from the museum’s collection, which is one of the biggest art collections of Finland. A lot of great paintings from the national romantic era to contemporary times, it was nice.
