  1. Do you ever use glassdoor.com (or something like review board website where employees anonymously rate their employers). It seems the company I worked for has some negatives present in other divisions that weren’t as present in the place I worked like low pay and nepotism/cliques that deny disfavored people promotions.

Hmmm I wonder if I should just hightail it out of there after a year if I get hired back at that other location. I didn’t realize how much things vary between locations at large companies.

  2. Does your city have some nice viewpoints?

Yesterday we went up one of the hills that surround Izmir with the cable car. From the hill you can see the entire Bay of İzmir, all the way to the sea. It was so beautiful. On the top, we sat at a nice cafe. A cat came and sat on my lap. Very sweet.

On the way back, we took the mountain road down. There was wild thyme, lavender, sage, arbutus trees, bees, butterflies… It’s really like spring. Right now it’s 16 degrees. I was so proud of my mom, she walked all the way down. She’s doing so much better since her surgery.

I’ll go to the market in a bit. I hope they have kumquats.

  3. I was looking for a pocket square online, and stumbled upon what claimed to be a used Fendi pocket square for…. 40€???? I don’t know if Fendi has made pocket squares, I don’t know if it’s genuinely Fendi or a fake, but 40€ is crazy. I went to Fendi’s website to see if they currently sell pocket squares. They don’t, so I don’t know how much they’d cost new. So naturally I turned to Hermès. They sell pocket squares, and oh boy, they’re 205€. This must be the stupidest way to spend 205€ there is.

Speaking of Fendi btw, their headquarters in Rome, [Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9f/Palazzo_della_civilt%C3%A0_del_lavoro_%28EUR%2C_Rome%29_%285904657870%29.jpg), looks so great. I always thought so. Then one day I looked into it and it’s apparently called “fascist architecture”. Now I’m knee deep in reading articles and browsing through papers about it. One article mentioned research made about how this kind of architecture may influence people’s ideologies who live in those spaces, like there is this lingering ghost of fascism around, but I still haven’t found what research they referenced to. Sounds super interesting.

It’s one of those moments where you see something cool, then find out it can be pretty problematic and now I’m left wondering if Mussolini is living in my head rent free because I thought Fendi’s HQ looked cool.

  4. We went to Upper Belvedere to see Gustav Klimts “The Kiss”. Seeing all sorts of paintings and art in this gorgeuous setting was a really cool experience.
