Canadian here. What the title says. Also, are the Summer Games more popular in the US than the Winter Games?

  1. I’ll watch it if it’s on and I’ve got nothing to do. I won’t seek it out specifically.

    Yes, summer is more popular.

  2. I always considered it like the second tier of the Olympics. I don’t plan on watching

If anything maybe I’ll check out the figure skating, that always seems somewhat cool

  3. Love watching them. I’ll never forget a lady at a new job I started just before the 2010 Winter Olympics saying “I didn’t even know the Olympics were happening”…

I watch it all, but any skiing, speed skating, curling, skeleton, luge, bob sled, and the bi-athalon is the best sporting event you can watch.

  4. i a fairly big sports fan (football, baseball, college football). i have no idea when or where the winter olympics are being held. i do watch some summer olympics tho

  5. I will. Figure skating is my favorite but I also try to catch curling, speed skating, luge, snowboard, and skiing events when I can.

  6. I’ll watch it if it’s on a TV I’m around. I feel lIke before streaming when it occupied a whole channel for the whole Olympics we used to watch it more, especially the premiere events like skating that tend to be rebroadcast in prime time, but nowadays I’m more likely to watch what I want, not what happens to be on.

  7. I’ll check out the hockey games when I can. Outside of that, I won’t bother with it.

  8. Every day. The new-ish favorite sport is snowboard cross, if that’s what it’s called. Really really fun to watch.

  9. I’m a huge hockey fan….. I’m hoping that rink is going to be ready to go over there….. Doesn’t sound like its construction is going well.

  10. I love the Olympics and will watch as much as I can! I’m especially excited for all the figure skating events!

  11. We always loved the Olympics in our family and watch both summer and winter pretty religiously. But we’re also 30 miles from a city that has hosted the Winter Olympics and have always enjoyed watching figure skating, speed skating, bobsledding and skiing. When snowboarding came along we enjoyed that too. Curling is also fun! Love to see the stories behind the athletes too. We love it! Summer too!

Edit: It’s the only month I pay for Peacock every couple of years nowadays since that’s where I can find the most coverage with the most choices. Worth it for those couple weeks!

  12. Kansas here, and I freaking love the winter games. Biathalon is probably my favorite, but I always try to catch bobsled, downhill skiing, speedskating, and of course hockey. My 10yr old was fascinated with curling in the last Olympics, so we’ll see if it’s still a favorite, haha.

  13. I adore the Winter Olympics. It will be the only thing on my tv for the duration, and probably a week or so beyond. I hope to watch all the events, but especially the alpine ski racing.

Going up to Whistler for the Vancouver Olympics is one of my favorite trips I’ve ever been on, and I’m glad that Sun Valley is hosting FIS events now because it’s not too hard to get to for me

  14. I watch any that I can, but specifically any figure skating. I also love luge, bobsled, curling, skiing (jump, slalom, downhill), snowboarding. I’m sure I’m forgetting several!
I think more summer games people are household names (esp basketball, gymnastics, and Ilona Maher) but I think a lot of people catch it when they can.

  15. Some hockey, speed skating, Lindsay Vonn, and whatever they call the speed racing on skis with lots of people at one time.

  16. mostly for hockey but it’s fun to watch some curling and some random events. not something i care deeply about and my main patriotic rooting interest is more local than national and perhaps aligned with yours. i’m from pittsburgh and it would be cool if crosby could win a gold in his last olympics

  17. Maybe curling, alpine skiing, and the ski jump. I don’t really watch much else. Even in the summer Olympics, I don’t watch much. I mainly just keep a watch on the medal counts is all.

  18. I watch the Winter and Summer Olympic BUT … I watch whatever is on. Its a weird thing where I wind up randomly watching them. A lot of the time I windsurfing watching skating events with my partner. Other than that, it becomes a “I wonder what events on…”.

  19. Love the Olympics and I will be watching, no events in particular. I went to Brazil for the summer Olympics and it was my favorite vacation ever, we even went and watched table tennis and it was amazing. Did not want to spend the big $$$ for gymnastics or opening ceremonies, but we did see a lot of different events and enjoyed them all. Good memories, some day I will make it to the winter Olympics in person.

  20. Ever since TV fragmented into streaming platforms, I’ve been completely oblivious to the Olympics. I used to love every winter Olympics event, but I didn’t even know Olympics were happening soon until yesterday.

  21. I’ve watched every Olympics I’ve been alive for (summer and winter). My mother always likes the opening and closing ceremonies and figure skating, so I’ve grown to like those too. But I will try to catch curling, hockey, speed skating, and ski jumping at a minimum. Probably some bobsleigh. But summer Olympics is definitely more popular in the US broadly (maybe because there’s a larger distribution of states with athletes).

  22. I enjoy the winter way more than the summer. Outside of like wrestling and some of the women’s gymnastics the winter ones just seem so much more exciting

  23. In New England, the Great Lakes, and the Rocky Mountains… basically the regions with high winter sports participation… the Winter Games are as popular as the Summer Games.

  24. I don’t think it’s really registered. With the death of network TV I barely even see any promotions for it and I doubt I’ll see a single second of it live

  25. I took a break from the Olympics about 30 years ago once I realized the International Olympic Committee is the most corrupt organization on Earth when I got too close. I used to love the Olympics but I’m over it now.

  26. Won’t watch any of it. No one needs to flame me for this (I won’t read it), but it’s just a bunch of games to me. For me, it would be like watching a bunch of people I don’t know play Go Fish

  27. Winter Olympics? Where are they gonna be held? Serious question as I def didn’t follow that and too lazy to Google it
