Yall I’m tired of having to have a “real bed” like an adult. This duvet cover stuff is for the birds. Gotta fish your duvet all the way through a small opening to tie down the corners and stuff. Then fluff it out forever so it evening disperses inside the cover. Then you gotta do the reverse just to get it out to wash the cover. God forbid it’s a dry cold where you live and you just shock yourself with static the whole time.

Where are my better alternatives at?

  2. it just takes a couple minutes, you’ll get better as you practice. don’t give up on civilization yet

  3. I hope so. I’d rather sleep outside under a pile of wet leaves than have to fuck with a duvet cover.

  4. There’s a fairly simple method where you flip the duvet inside out, attach the comfort, roll it up, and then flip it over on itself. Plenty of videos on YouTube.

  5. It gets a lot easier with time. Been using a duvet for 15 years and 5+ with the heaviest weighted blanket we could find.

The first couple years were rough, but I can flip, tie the corners, and have a bed made in 3 mins now. Even faster if the wife helps.

The luxury of a nice bed setup is 100% worth the extra effort imho

  6. Turn duvet cover inside out.

Put hands inside duvet cover, to the two far corners.

Bonus points, for standing completely inside duvet cover, like a ghost.

Grab duvet at corners with hands.

Pull duvet cover over duvet, bit of a shake and your good to go.

I still fucking hate it though.

  7. I layer my bedding. Fitted sheet for the mattress, flat sheet goes next, duvet next, top with another flat sheet

  8. My wife and I do this together. We each hold a duvet corner and find the top corner of the cover. Then you put them together and hold them both from the outside and shake. After that you’re pretty much good to do up the zipper.

  9. There’s a video of the rolling method on YouTube. Way easier than the wrestling match method.

  10. Turn the duvet cover inside out and put your arms into each top corner of the duvet, hold the corners tight and shake really hard til the duvet has turned the right way, fix the bottom corners, close, done, easy,

  11. Quilts are nice. My partner likes a quilt. I prefer sleeping bag. I slept in a sleeping bag most of my adult life. Love the foot pocket for temperature regulation. Easy to wash. Make the bed in 10 seconds.

  12. People use duvets still? I thought they were culturally discontinued 20 years ago?

Are they making a comeback and I missed the memo?

  13. A down duvet with baffles requires less fluffing, and usually they come with corner ties. I wouldn’t get one without them. Also, if you avoid plastic down alternatives and use a cotton or linen duvet cover then you won’t get static (and it breathes, I’m a hot sleeper), plus who needs more plastic in their lives.

Someone else already mentioned the inside-out method. It’s the only way to do it.

  14. Before duvet covers were common, you just needed a bed cover:

Bottom layer: fitted sheet (wash weekly or more often if needed)
Next layer: flat sheet (wash with fitted sheet)
Next layer: blankets/comforter etc. (only wash as needed, least frequent)
Top layer: bed cover (what everyone sees on your bed, doesn’t have to touch your body as much as the other layers, can wash infrequently).

You can even use another flat sheet as a bed cover.

No need for duvet covers 🙂

  15. my wife and I each have a bed sized fleece/microfiber blanket. one is on her side of the bed and one on mine. the bed is never made.

    enjoy.

  16. Most of the year, I take a multi-layered-blanket approach. A top sheet, a flannel blanket, and then a microfleece blanket. In the chillier months, I’ll also use flannel sheets. If it gets, like, COLD, I have a heavy duvet I’ll bust out, but it’s not common.

  17. I just use a fleece blanket, maybe 2 if its cold. None of this duvet cover or comforter nonsense.

  18. Have you considered using ***just*** the duvet cover? I sleep hot so I use just the duvet cover and keep the stuffing in the closet. Helps with your complaint about having to stuff the two each time they get washed.

  19. I bought some diaper pins from amazon and pin it to the cover instead of tying the corners. Eight pins, the four corners and the middle of each side. No more needing to make it spread out inside the cover.

  20. Comforter. If your washing machine ain’t big enough the machines at the laundry mat are usually 3$ for the large machine and about 2$ in dryer time. It’s just a pain in the ass because most laundry mats don’t want you leaving a machine unattended. I broke down and bought some bigger machines for the house.
