Hope everyone’s Christmas was well spent! I’m a bit tired from lack of sleep, but it has been a nice day overall. I applied for some translation gigs, and hope it will go well, but it isn’t a huge deal either way. Though, it did keep me awake for a while, so I do hope that at least it happens for the worth of my sleep!
Hope everyone has a nice day in these days moving to the new year!
Good King Wenceslas looked out,on the feast of Stephen, when the snow lay round about… I’m in the right place anyway! Though the snow is not really deep.
Wenceslas was the Duke of Bohemia, assassinated by his younger brother and became a saint.. the patron saint of Czechia.
More Christmas music! This time the Bach cantata [Ich steh an deiner Krippen hier](https://youtu.be/wU4JkiWKHu8?si=n5aTIL_4r9yDAGTD) which is perfect for the occasion. To me this one sounds much earlier than it is.
I had a friend over for Christmas Day who as divorce dad can only see his kids today. It was really nice. I even made Æbleskiver (I have a special cast iron pan for it but I use it like once a year 😅 they’re not the easiest thing to make).
Today’s just leftovers and chill. I am looking forward to it.
From the Arte youtube channel I watched Mozart’s Requiem being performed at Sagrada Familia, what an amazing video. I’ve actually never seen photos or video from the inside of the church, it looks so great. I should really visit mainland Spain at some point. I was just talking about Guernica with somebody the other day, I’d like to see it and Las Meninas in Madrid, I’d like to visit Alhabra, and go to Barcelona for the Gaudi architecture.
I also listened to Charles Ives’ Universe Symphony. I didn’t even think of it, but both Mozart’s Requiem and Ives’ Universe Symphony were finished by somebody else, so I guess I had an accidental theme with my listening. Though the Universe Symphony is probably less Ives than Requiem is Mozart. I really like Ives’ music, Three Places in New England is one of my favourites, but I never listened to the Universe Symphony before.
The theme of listening to unfinished works seems to have ended however, because for some reason I have [My Neck, My Back](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxJ3CBkZOwU) playing in my head lmao.
