Last few days of work before the vacation starts, it’s a kind of slow week here.No testing this time of year and many students are not attending lectures, seminars etc, though my trainees are still working until Friday!
Another Christmas party this evening.Hopefully the weather will improve,at the moment it’s cold,grey and rainy here.
I was listening to random christmas music and stumbled upon a song from my childhood I had half forgotten. The implication of the lyrics is kinda weird for a children’s holiday song, though: it’s a boy singing about seeing santa kissing his mum. The boy believes it to really be santa, making it an act of unfaithfulness. Part of the chorus goes:
I saw Santa kissing mum!
She wasn’t angry, no not at all.
I myself had been tucked to bed
As a behaving young boy.
But the door was ajar,
so out of the covers I jumped.
And then I saw Santa kissing mum!
It goes on to describing how the dad would probably laugh at the sight, though I kinda doubt that, had the two not been one and the same (unbeknownst to the boy)
I woke up at 4, have been traveling since then didn’t even have time for a coffee 😭 someone send help. I need to keep going till the afternoon.
I wonder when the default water in Germany became sparkling water. Whenever I am visiting somewhere or speaking at an event, if I ask for water they put a hunk of glass with lukewarm sparkling water in front of me. What happened to delicious tap water? Room temperature sparkling water is not yummy and doesn’t quench my thirst.
What do you guys drink, tap water or bottled? Still or sparkling? What’s default for you?
I’ve no account of how much it has rained so far in December, but if the temperatures were below freezing we would’ve had quite a nice layer of snow. I miss a proper winter.
Christmas really always creeps up on you. First it’s four weeks away, and then suddenly it’s next week. Luckily I don’t have to do any organising and only a mild bit of shopping.
I’ve been trying to decide what to do with my most recently bought overcoat. The [fit](https://i.imgur.com/KbPtw1S.jpeg) is too wide at the shoulders, they droop down from my natural shoulders, and I’m thinking about getting them narrowed. But also, I do want it to have the oversized 90s look, so, I’m not sure what to do.
