I heard some Christmas song 2 days ago. What the Heck.
Finally, the US government shutdown is over. This was too long and caused a lot of damage to everything.
First World Problem: I’m due to get a new laptop at work but they only have QWERTZ/Swiss keyboards. Which isn’t an issue w/ typing but a disaster (for me) when it comes to inputting passwords that require symbols.
The weather is soooo nice today. Even if the day is short, at least we have some warm weather and sunshine.
Yesterday I made a pumpkin soup recipe from the 17th century, with one of my own pumpkins. It was so good, and much easier than my usual recipe as well.
I think along with Chinese, Turkish cuisine is the one that has the largest amount of weird ass not Turkish recipes labelled as Turkish, be it books or online recipes. Most of the time I don’t even know a dish that remotely resembles the dish that’s presented as Turkish. Like the recipe I saw yesterday that’s a kind of liver stew with carrots and eggplants? Like even the ingredient combination is so alien. I guess this doesn’t happen with Italians and French. Does it?
My father is in Lapland and he is apparently helping some local reindeer herders separate their herd. The reindeer graze in the wilderness and a couple of times a year the herders get them to a single location where they check them, decide which ones go back grazing and which go to the slaughter house, and figure out which fawn belongs to which doe and ultimately to which herder. Apparently they used a helicopter and ATVs for the herding. The helicopter is probably used for herding Santa Claus’ reindeer.
I still haven’t yet adjusted to the time change. Now, the sun has completely gone down by the time I get home from work, so I only really get to experience the sun for an hour a day at lunchtime. I hate it.
Anyway, it’s time for me to start looking for Christmas gifts, but my family has always been incredibly hard to buy for because everyone gets what they want for themselves. Have any of you spoken to my mom recently? Has she dropped any hints what she might want? What about my brothers?
What’s the most expensive book you guys own? There’s a two-book set I want to buy, but it’s 150 Euros 🙈 I can’t decide if it’s worth it.
Apparently, Chat Control passed so called “Law Enforcement Working Group”…
Can we go back to pre-2000s world please? I’m tired of 2025.
