What do you think about making Endometriosis a Disability by law?

1. I think that for legal purposes, disability should be defined by a person’s functional limitations, not by their diagnosis, simply because many conditions are very very tough to diagnose. One of my friends suffered for years and was only diagnosed with endometriosis because it was discovered while she was undergoing surgery for something else entirely. Her abilities were limited by the condition long before she knew she had it.

2. I think it is a great idea. Endometriosis can have a significant impact on a person’s life, affecting their ability to work and take part in everyday activities. By making Endometriosis a disability by law, it could provide people who suffer from this condition with access to the resources and support they need to manage their symptoms and lead a fulfilling life.

3. That’s not something I have an opinion about specifically because I’m not well-informed about endometriosis. However, if any sort of illness/disease/disorder/impairment/condition meets the criteria for impact on the person’s ability to live their life, then I think it should be considered for inclusion as an acknowledged disability.

4. I think anything should be legally classified as a disability to the degree to which it imposes limitations on the person affected. That’s how it works where I live anyway.

5. I think that doesn’t really make sense. It can be disabling for many women, but it’s not automatically disabling. There’s people who don’t even know they have it because they have no symptoms.
