I’m feeling a little down on my luck with unemployment and bad decisions. So I decided to start treating myself to little things that being me joy. Little things.

  1. Working out. Sounds counterintuitive but it’s a place to go to get away from your thoughts. Even in your own house or running in a park/nearby trail if you don’t want to swing a gym membership right now.

  2. Every day at my work lunch I try to have a small package of cookies or something sweet as a treat. The only sugar I really try to have during the week so it’s something that I look forward to. Sitting outside at dusk is nice too, with all the sounds.

  3. I dont really treat myself every day because once you do, it kinda loses the status as a treat. But when I treat myself, i usually get a cinnamon role from a specific bakery at the other end of my town (or any other food I am really into at that moment).

  4. Taking a walk at the park. Buying my favorite food. I meal prep and eat the exact same thing Monday to thurs so when I’m feeling really stressed or down I buy myself my favorite food to treat myself.

  5. Getting outside, whether for rigorous exercise or just for a walk. There’s a park near me with a pond and some woods. Let the dog run free, be alone with my thoughts outdoors, does wonders. And it’s totally free.
