  1. The Tylenol murders. In 1982 a 12 year old girl has a cold and her parents gave her a Tylenol. She died of cyanide poisoning. The same day a 27 year old postal worker and his sister and brother in law also died of cyanide poisoning. Over the next few day 4 more people died of cyanide poisoning. The investigators found out all had taken Tylenol right before death. This took place in different suburbs across Chicagoland, an area with 8 million people. Tylenol was pulled from the shelves and testing found other tainted bottles. It was a huge national deal and led to the packaging we have today. So far as I know there has never been a definitive answer as to who did it. It wasn’t in the plant.

  2. The disappearance of Dail Dinwiddie.

A young woman who completely vanished in a popular bar district in Columbia. She was last seen walking down the street at 2 AM. No trace of her has ever been found, no leads, no solid suspects. She just… Disappeared.

  3. Boy in the Box out East and the Murder Swamp bodies out west. The latter has been theorized to be part of the Cleveland Torso Murders.

  4. I’ve read the Connecticut State Police’s report on Sandy Hook cover to cover and the conclusion was that we will never understand why Adam Lanza did what he did.

He destroyed his PC, and despite the CSP and FBI’s best efforts to recover the data, it was gone; he murdered his mother; he was estranged from his father and brother; he had no friends. In other words, the only witness to his character died that morning.

It will never be solved, and it burns.

  5. The most well-known one is probably the disappearance of Ayla Reynolds. She was a toddler who went missing from her dad’s house in 2011 and was never found. People obviously highly suspect the dad, but there’s not enough evidence to charge him with anything and her body’s never been found.

  6. I mean, this is more of a personal one, but I had a distant relative that completely disappeared off the face of the earth. Her twin sister never stopped hoping that she would hear from her until the day she died. Currently theory is that her abusive, piece of shit husband killed her

  7. The Colonial Parkway serial murders in Virginia. A murderer killed 8 young people (possibly more) in the late 80s. The typical murder would be the killing if a couple at a make out spot along the Colonial Parkway. The Colonial Parkway is a beautiful drive that connects Jamestown, Williamsburg and Yorktown and runs alongside the James River over to the York River. The killings stopped in ’89 and the cases remains unsolved.

  8. The abduction and murder of 9 year old Amber Hagerman. She was taken by someone in a black truck in central Arlington (TX) and her body was found a few days later in the Trinity river. Her killer has never been found..

The Amber Alert is named for her.

It’s really stuck in my mind because my older son was the same age. Not only have her parents missed out on all the things I’ve seen my son do as he’s grown up, married, etc but they haven’t had any justice.
