I (15, almost 16m) have had a crush on this girl (recently 17) in my school for a while. When I first met her everyone told me not to be friends with her because of drama that happened a while ago, and because she had a couple failed relationships. I still became friends with her and it was the best decision I’ve made to date. We became very close and what got us even closer was that our school has a madrigal dinner (a medieval themed concert/entertainment/5 course meal) and there is a “royal court” who have lines and is kind of like a musical and put on a concert at the end of the night. I was paired with her to be a couple for the royal court. Me and this girl became very close and we were the type of friends to be very flirty but never actually act on it. After about a little less than year of knowing her I finally mustered up the courage to confess. She said that she loved me but had a crush on a guy that she knew she couldn’t be with. I’ve tried getting over it but I can’t. She does say “i love you” but I don’t know what is happening. What do I do?!!

TL;DR: friends with a girl for a while, we flirted a lot, I confessed, she loves me, but another guy more.

  1. Love is a pretty strong word to throw to someone you aren’t even dating. Have you kissed or dated at all? Love takes time, and obviously she likes someone else more so just let it go and remain friends. Or, if it’s too difficult for now maybe distance yourself a little as hard as that is.

  2. If someone likes you, you’ll know for sure. If they don’t, you’ll be confused. If you’re confused: it’s probably not gonna work.
