What’s the most trouble you’ve gotten in for something you didn’t do?

1. in first grade, i got my color changed (iykyk) for yelling at another kid to stop kicking me on the monkey bars. my teacher thought i was initiating a fight… almost 20 years later and i will never forget it

2. I lost three of my best friends over a rumor that wasn’t even true.

   Two of the girls I had been friends with since the age of five. The third girl, we had met when we were thirteen (she was the new girl in town) and we added her to our group. I’ll call her Kate.

   In high school, Kate, my other two friends, and I were extremely close. We always had sleepovers together. We did everything together. We even dated guys within the same friend group together.

   In the 11th grade, Kate began dating a guy who couldn’t control his alcohol intake. We would be at a party and he would be blackout drunk causing a scene. It was a common occurrence. At some of those parties, he hit on other girls right in front of her. He did it to me a couple of times. After a while, Kate stopped talking about him/bringing him places, but they continued dating.

   Years later, when I was home from college for the weekend, Kate’s boyfriend messaged me (aggressively) asking where Kate was. Apparently Kate told him she was with me, but in reality she was off hooking up with HIS best friend. I didn’t know any of this at the time though. So I messaged back saying “sorry, I have no clue where she is.”

   After that happened, Kate “no longer trusted me.” She then told the other two girls that I was having sex with her boyfriend on a consistent basis for multiple years. It wasn’t even remotely true. She completely made it up. I was then shunned from the group.

   Right after I was kicked out of the group, she dumped her boyfriend for another guy she had been cheating with. Katie is still friends with my two old friends.

   I’ve run into one of the girls from that group a few times over the last seven years. Every time, she asks if I really slept with Kate’s boyfriend. And every time I’m like “No. Never did anything. You guys dumped me over a rumor that wasn’t even true.“ I can’t tell if she asks because she believes the rumor still/wants me to “fess up” or if she finally realizes it was a lie and feels bad.

3. I got humiliated & kicked out of highschool coz of rumors & lies that people told about me.

4. Being under investigation while being on course in the military. Some lovely men from my platoon tried to get me charged for sexual harassment because they thought I wasn’t docile enough. These morons were not even consistent enough in their lies and the investigation came to an end after I gave a very precise statement of my recalling of the « events ». Funny how they thought they could get away with it.

5. Slow internet.

   My brother was mad all the time, cussing with diseases and blame me for slow internet because I played video games.
