I (18F) met a guy (19M) on Discord a few months ago. He was really hardworking and smart, and honestly a lot of girls were attracted to him because of that. I was too, but I don’t think that was the main reason in my case. It genuinely felt like one of those “love at first sight” type things.
As we started talking more, I realized what actually made me attached to him was how caring and observant he is. He notices small things about me, remembers random details, and always makes me feel heard.
At first our conversations were completely normal, just casual talks while we were busy with exams. Slowly, without even realizing it, we both got really comfortable with each other. We started sharing random daily stuff, thoughts, stress, everything.
The funny thing is, I never directly told him that I liked him. Maybe he already knew, or maybe he just ignored the signs because we were both focused on exams.
After exams ended, we suddenly had a lot more free time, so we started talking more. During one conversation, he finally realized how strongly attached I was to him.
But instead of making things romantic immediately, he said something really mature. He told me that attraction is normal, but maybe this isn’t the right age or phase for us to get deeply involved because it could distract both of us from our goals. He said there will be a right time for all this when we become independent and more settled in life.
So we decided to stay normal friends for now and reduce talking a bit, especially once college starts. We’ll probably talk mostly on weekends.
And honestly? Seeing this level of maturity from him somehow made me like him even more. I don’t even know if that’s a good thing or not 😭
