27M, I’ve been playing recreational flag football for almost 4 years now, in 2 different leagues and been on multiple teams, and just can’t make any friends through them.
I’m a pretty likeable, friendly guy and pretty athletic, plus I love football so I thought this would be perfect to make some friends through. But it seems like everyone on each time already is married, has a set friend group, or is too competitive/uninterested in actually making friends.
For example, everyone is cool with me during games, but no one ever wants to hangout before, after or outside of the games. I’ve tried a number of times to set up times to hangout but I always get a reason why they cant. But I hear them talk about how they do think with other people/friends in these leagues. Now, I’m at the point where I don’t usually even ask cause I know the awnser.
Objectively, am I doing something wrong? Am I expecting too much from these people? Am I not putting in enough effort? Am I just getting screwed everytime?
I’m really looking for advice because I really am looking for some friends, and I just feel like I don’t have what the other players have. Thanks!
