I honestly think one of the biggest problems in modern dating is that people confuse emotional intensity with emotional investment.

Someone texting you constantly for 2 weeks:

  • good morning texts
  • fast replies
  • compliments
  • future plans
  • emotional conversations

can make you feel like the connection is becoming “real.”

But a lot of people are emotionally expressive in the moment and emotionally unavailable long-term.

And I think social media/dating apps made this worse because people are constantly chasing emotional stimulation, novelty, and validation without even realizing it.

So now a lot of connections start intensely… then slowly collapse once consistency and actual vulnerability become necessary.

Honestly, I think that’s why mixed signals mess with people’s heads so badly now. The beginning feels emotionally convincing enough to create attachment before real stability ever exists.

Does anyone else feel like modern dating creates emotional closeness way too fast now?
