I am 30F and my partner is 29M. We have been together for fourteen months with the last six months being long distance due to his career move to another state. In the early phase we stayed connected through daily video calls and shared our routines. We planned visits and tried to support each other from afar.
Now it feels harder. Our calls are shorter due to busy work schedules and different time zones. Conversations sometimes feel routine rather than intimate. We miss the physical closeness and small daily moments. Both of us are putting in effort but the emotional connection seems to be fading slightly and it worries me.
We have a visit coming up soon but I wonder if it will be enough to strengthen things again. I want this to work but do not know the best way to keep the spark alive without adding more pressure.
Has anyone successfully managed long distance relationships? What habits or routines helped maintain closeness? How did you handle the emotional strain and when did you know it was time to discuss the future more seriously?
