Im about to turn 33 and Im still struggling with direction in my life and career. I have many interests but none of them are good career prospects.
I dont think I am very talented in any aspect or particularly smart, just been below average to average at best at everything across the board my whole life.
My job history:
retail
5 years of restaurants/ bartending / fast food
worked with a general contractor
2 years working at a car dealership
delivering food
for the past 7 years I have been working in a medical production facility it pays okay but i dont really enjoy it.
The thing i think I was the best at was cooking and working in kitchens. I really like to cook and I can multi task which is good in a kitchen. However the jobs always sucked because they are very stressful and busy, with low pay and crappy hours always working nights and weekends.
I kindof enjoyed the contracting as well but im hesitant to fully join the trades bc I dont want to wreck my body. My dads side of the family is heavy in the trades and all of them are having multiple back/ knee / wrist surguries in their 40s and 50 to repair all their injuries.
Im struggling with where to go in life. I dont like working with computers either and it seems most everything involves that in some way.
The interests i have that arent good careers: cooking as i mentioned. being active, running, hiking. watching and playing sports. music, concerts and playlists. I like photography as well.
SO yeah any advice or directions I could go in? Kinda at a loss.
