As far as I know, England is the only country that uses “To Let” in Canada and The US, “For Rent” is used alternatively. Not sure what’s done in Australia and New Zealand.
Vandals taking to advertisements and writing something in conjunction with their target’s messaging, like the vandal who spray painted “The dog dies” on a bus shelter poster for Marley and Me, or another who added “Navidad” under a billboard that read, “For Lease” is very common.
I wanted to know if this is a common act of vandalism in the UK, or just something I thought of in my sense of humor. I do know “toilet” in UK English more general means “bathroom” as opposed to the plumbing fixture that takes your waste, so maybe the humor doesn’t read the same way for the vandal in question? Would love to know thanks!
