This is our newest unrelenting positivity post.

The state in question is the great state of New York.

To all our foreign friends give a shout ask questions send praise. To our Americans do the same.

Ask questions, share stories, make jokes. Just remember not to be a jerk.

Recall the famous phrase my grandma invented “if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything that isn’t redemptively funny.”

Stay tuned for 29/50 after this one.

The states are in random order based on my whim at the moment. Today’s whim is any state that can trash on the Bruins is a friend of mine.

  1. I’m from the Finger Lakes region. People from other parts of the US and other parts of the world don’t seem to realize that NY is a beautiful state, with tons of nature. It’s not all Manhattan.

    And GO SABRES!

  2. New York’s the best state. Four seasons, beautiful summers, snow…

  3. The finger lakes area was beautiful. I’m hoping to get up to the Adirondacks this summer. I’ve driven from Buffalo to Albany as well. NYC… well I’m glad I visited it at least once, just hope I never have to go back.

Niagara falls is 100% with visiting, even though it’s a bit of a tourist trap around there. It’s definitely not overrated as I’ve been there twice and would go back.

  4. So, I’ll get this going. Where does upstate begin?

    ; )

Ok so I grew up in Binghamton and here’s my two cents. Take the NY/PA border and keep drawing it east. Anything below the line is downstate, anything above is upstate. And don’t try to convince me that western NY isn’t considered upstate. Final answer.

  5. Has impressively withstood an over 40 year long smear campaign against the entire state and it’s major city.

  6. It’s the state where my family landed in the US when we immigrated. It will always have my respect.

  7. NY is America wrapped up in one state. Strong liberal population, Trumpers, colonial history, nature, mountains, corruption, crime, etc.

You can have it all here. And its awesome.

  8. Dia Beacon is one of the greatest modern art museums in the country and even most New Yorkers don’t know it exists or just irrationally hate modern sculpture art.

  9. New York somehow has people paying $4000 rent to live above a screaming subway grate and they’ll still tell you it’s the greatest city on earth with genuine passion. Honestly respect the commitment.

  10. Actual winter wonderlands, great nature/parks, cider, world-class city with food to match, and more!

  11. My favorite state!

I obviously love New York City, but what I really love (and what not enough NYCers know) is that there’s also so much more than that.

  12. New York has a ton of natural beauty. The Finger Lakes, Letchworth, the Adirondacks, The Hudson Valley, and much more. There are tons of well managed State Parks to visit and camp in. I have visited every county in the state (except one) and I’ve found someone neat in every one!

  13. New York is an *amazing” state. So diverse. ….New York City (infinity& beyond), Albany, Saratoga, Lake Placid, Buffalo, Finger Lakes, Niagara Falls, LI., Plattsburgh … the history, ethnicities, food … I love New York. ❤️

  14. I’m originally from around Albany, and I’ve been living in the Rochester area for a long time (after a stint in the South). I love living in NY. The state is absolutely gorgeous, and even in a year with a rough winter I wouldn’t trade the four seasons, especially Fall, for anything. I’m proud of the state’s history and progressive outlook, and I’m glad that all kinds of people can live here happily and peacefully.

And that’s all without even talking about NYC, one of the coolest cities in the world.

  15. You’re telling me the same state that brought me buffalo wings also brought me new york style pizza? Stop it, I don’t believe you!

  16. Not my favorite state but from what I’ve seen, New York is absolutely beautiful. Also, there’s only one NFL team in the state of New York.

And LETS GO SABRES! BEAT THE HELL OUT OF THE HABS TONIGHT!

  17. New York City is truly one of the great cities of the world, and has been for a long time. Been there multiple times, and I have never been bored because there is always something new to discover, or something I had never come across, for food, activities, sightseeing, and so much more. Having had family and friends living there over the years has made it even better to discover hidden gems. It is always an exciting and dynamic city to experience.

New York State is also nice. I remember doing a couple of nice hikes in the Adirondacks near Hudson. The Finger Lakes region is scenic, and I found Ithaca to be a great college town. While only one side is in NY, it goes without saying that Niagara Falls are an epic natural wonder.

  18. We have such beautiful scenery here. Plus food that you can’t find anywhere else (salt potatoes anyone?)

  19. The only place I’ve ever been in New York is NYC, and it was great. Wonderful city, enjoyed it very much.

  20. NYC is awesome. My favorite memory there is listening to a free concert of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra in Central Park and running through the park to beat the crowds on the train as they played an encore of Aaron Copeland’s Hoe-Down from the Rodeo suite. One of those rare moments in life where you actually get a perfect soundtrack to your life.
