Men of AskMenOver30! In the interest of creating a deeper, more engaging, and more relevant community for all of us, we've implemented a recurring, Weekly Wednesday check-in thread.

  • How are you doing this week?
  • How are you feeling this week?
  • How have things changed from last week (if at all)?
  • Are you proud of anything you've done this week?
  • Are you struggling with anything this week?
  • Do you need advice or feedback on anything that's happening?

Feel free to share your wins, losses, and general progress. You can talk about anything from work and career, to personal projects, to personal development and family, to friendships and socialization, even dating.

Life is ongoing, and sometimes it's good to have a community around us that can reflect that. Hopefully this weekly check-in will serve as a good tool and outlet for those who need it.

You are encouraged not only to post, but to respond to posts by others. Support your fellow men in their trials and tribulations.

Please be respectful in your comments.

  2. Sick as a dog with a sore throat, cold symptoms, and a fever.

I’m in a job I don’t enjoy anymore but I’m good at it and it pays well. Had to report my boss that I’ve known and respected for years but is recently not carrying his weight. I have my name in the hat for some other opportunities, done some screens and interviews, and am in the stressful waiting period for next steps.

Otherwise, outside of this week. Things are looking bright ahead. I’ve got some vacations lined up. The weather is getting nicer, so being outside is more comfortable. And I have a great family structure.

  3. I’ve been working on improving my love life along with improving my relationships with my family and friends. I’ve never had anything bad happen between any family members or friends but it wasn’t until my therapist pointed it out to me that I’ve been keeping everyone at an arm’s distance as far as how I’m feeling.

I had a bit of a mental health episode last week that involved me having to call my therapist to help calm me down. And it was a bit hard to reveal what had happened to my family and friends. They’ve known I was going to therapy but I never really quite revealed what was really going on with me. So I felt like that was a huge achievement for me. And they’ve been super supportive and really have been there for me.

I think I’m in a better mental health space now after my episode so I feel like I’m mostly back to normal. I have a date on Monday which I’m excited for. We were supposed to go on our date last week but we had a bit of a communication error. Which is ok! It happens sometimes.

But overall this week has been much better for me. 🙂
