Hello guys.

Why is so hard to find liquid plain yogurt to drink. Similar to Kefir but its not Kefir haha. I couldn’t find it anywhere . Is this not common drink there?

  1. No, we eat yogurt with a spoon for the most part, not as a drink.

    At least in my area.

  2. I see at every grocery store I go to. Try health food stores. Whole Foods, New Seasons, Natural Grocers, Wegmans, Sprouts should all have it. Or you can buy yogurt and make your own. I’ve gotten some real nice legit kind at Persian stores if you’re looking for Doogh

  3. Most of the liquid yogurt in the US is for kids and will have a lot of flavoring and/or sugar in it. It’s possible to find regular liquid yogurt, though. The suggestion to look for it in an ethnic grocery is a good one.

  4. I dont think I have ever seen yogurt marketed as drinkable beyond little pouches for kids but that is still just marketed as regular yogurt.

  5. Where in the states are you? Plain and flavored drinkable yogurts are available at my local grocery stores.

  6. I’ve seen it at every grocery store I go to – Trader Joe’s, Hy-Vee, Target, etc.

  7. I’m able to find Ayran in some corner stores near me that carry some mediterranean products, and at dedicated middle eastern groceries.  Many Eastern European grocers have similar products too.

  8. I see high protein yogurt drinks pretty much every store I go to. Am I live fairly rural

  9. Where are you looking? What region/city.

Yogurt with a spoon is definitely the cultural preference but I’ve never been in a grocery store that didn’t have liquid yogurt. Even when I was growing up there were constant “Danimals” (brand name) commercials of liquid yogurt for kids.

  10. Gogo squeez is yogurt in a pouch

    Yakult yogurt drink

    Pillars yogurt drink

Activia and Chobani makes a yogurt drink.

    Storyfield makes a yogurt smootie.

There are several brands that make “yogurt drink” and several that make “yogurt smootie” although I honestly don’t know what the difference is, I assume smoothie also has fruit.

  11. Every grocery store within 10 miles has either Yakult, Danimals, Activia or El Mexicano. This includes Costco

  12. I googled liquid yogurt just now and I wish i hadn’t. Looks gross af. I’m just one person here, but i’ve never seen it advertised or sold in any stores.

  13. Drinkable yogurt is fairly easy to find – tons of brands. You will have more choices of flavors and brands to select from at stores like Whole Foods, natural food stores and specialty markets. Trader Joe’s probably carries their own brand, too.

But even mass-produced brands such as Oikos, Chobani, Dannon, etc. offer it and can be found at most regular grocery stores. I have even seen it at Costco if you want to purchase in bulk. It is not usually at convivence stores though.

    I like Siggi’s and/or local/other smaller niche brands the best. [siggi’s Icelandic yogurt – products](https://siggis.com/products?category=8&page=1)

  14. Most markets carry it. You can take a regular container of yogurt and shake the crap out it it for a couple minute and it turns it drinkable.

  15. Are you asking this on behalf of your cousin in Idaho again? She needs to just join Reddit herself and ask specific to her location.

  16. Plain? Flavored is in every grocery store I’ve never looked for plain though because why?

  17. You’ll often find it in Mexican groceries. Liquid yogurt is not popular outside of Latino culture.

  18. You can buy in any grocery store or convenience store.

Are you expecting a regular yogurt cup with straws? Most drinkable yogurts here are in bottles.

  19. I had no idea what you meant by “liquid yogurt” but now I understand, chobani makes a good one and I’m pretty sure there are several other brands at my grocery store too. I would never think to call them liquid yogurt that really got me 🤣

  20. Quick Google search shows its sold at Walmart. They also sell the culture to make your own.

  21. That’s weird because every grocery store sells it. You need to be more specific to what type you’re looking for.
