Guys that emigrated to a new country, how did you meet friends and create a new life for yourselves? Looking for stories, advice, input, etc. This is a lot different, and more difficult, in my mid-30’s vs. if I did it in my 20’s.

I'm 34, and on paper I'm quite blessed. I'm from the US and applied for a 2nd citizenship a few years ago, finally received it, moved overseas and found a remote job. I'm coming up on my second year here, and I feel stuck in a variety of ways, and I'm just looking for input, advice, stories, etc. Any other immigrants, please feel free to chime in.

Those who did the same, what worked? What clicked? Everyone says "join x sport, join a club, etc" but what worked for you? Was it focusing on the language? Was it really just a hobby, which then helped create a network?
