Men of AskMenOver30! In the interest of creating a deeper, more engaging, and more relevant community for all of us, we've implemented a recurring, Weekly Wednesday check-in thread.

  • How are you doing this week?
  • How are you feeling this week?
  • How have things changed from last week (if at all)?
  • Are you proud of anything you've done this week?
  • Are you struggling with anything this week?
  • Do you need advice or feedback on anything that's happening?

Feel free to share your wins, losses, and general progress. You can talk about anything from work and career, to personal projects, to personal development and family, to friendships and socialization, even dating.

Life is ongoing, and sometimes it's good to have a community around us that can reflect that. Hopefully this weekly check-in will serve as a good tool and outlet for those who need it.

You are encouraged not only to post, but to respond to posts by others. Support your fellow men in their trials and tribulations.

Please be respectful in your comments.

  2. Life is going fairly well. Quit drinking 6 weeks ago and trying to keep at it permanently. Greatful for my full-time job, but I need to find aome hobbies to fill spare time with. I have an electric keyboard I have been trying out (used to play piano). Trying to eat healthier and exercise more, as I have the dad bod going on right now.

  3. Week has been going well and recent trends are just generally positive. Spring has been approaching in the Northeast, which helps. Got to hang out with one of my buddies and do some lifting and hiking together. Then spent the rest of the weekend with the new girlfriend.

We’ve been dating for a month now, drove down to have dinner with her family and her mother and father are very kind people. We managed to have a great conversation around politics. Managed to navigate the outskirts of that conversation without it ever becoming an issue and her mom and dad were awesome. Dinner was great.

I’m catching up on work now and it’s been nice trying to get ahead on things as my super busy season approaches. I’ll be working 55+ hour weeks shortly, which sucks but it’s worth it. I love coaching and the kids have a great time. It’s fun watching them learn/grow over the course of two or so months.

Mostly, grateful for the way I’ve been feeling, my job, my friends, my family, and the new girlfriend. It’s incredible how quickly my push for “self-improvement” steps to the side when you’re in a healthy relationship. It’s like the toxic guilt sheds away an I’m able to just keep trying to improve myself with my goals, rather than worrying about reading certain books or watching certain podcasts.

Idk, all in all, things are moving in the right direction and I feel like I’m finally allowing myself to really pursue what I’m actually passionate about and to keep things progressing in the right direction still.

  4. It’s my Friday so off next 2 days. Golfing a Par 3 course with my Dad tomorrow so that’ll be fun

  5. Great weather day today. Running a 5k on Saturday I’m looking forward to!! (until it’s actually time to run it)

  6. Better this week than I have been in a while. It’s a month since I had to say goodbye to my dog, but I spent the day today with a friend (at a Networking thing but still) and I’m off work the rest of the week too. Gonna go have some beers and watch the World Cup qualifiers tomorrow and then have a bunch of junk food after.
