  6. I nearly bought a flat in a road called Hoare’s Close but I couldn’t get over the idea of having to tell people where I lived without them seeing the spelling.

  32. Fanny Hands Lane is quite the Lincolnshire landmark. So would Basic Slag Road in Scunthorpe if it wasn’t inaccessible and in the middle of the steel works.
