“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results” – A quote often connected with Albert Einstein, but seems like it possibly isn’t.
Anyway, computers, phones and even tv’s nowadays actually reward trying again and again. And my TV seems to be just fine with my bluetooth earphones one day, the next it jumps straight out of the menu without connecting them, and once a week I have to spend a couple of minutes to get them to work.
And “it’s all about the prompt”, when using generative AI? Bullshit, if the same prompt brings the desired results three times in a row, and then the fourth result is completely unusable due to so-called hallucinations.
Wonder if downing yet another big mug of dark roast will relieve this small crankiness? Probably not, but I’ll risk it.
Sooo I was talking about figure skating during the Olympics… There was this Ukrainian kid, Kyrylo Marsak, who has been training in Finland for some years as he’s had to flee Ukraine, leaving his father behind in the front line whom he hasn’t seen for three years. His father sent him the song to skate to, which is “Fall on Me” by Andrea Bocelli. Andrea Bocelli, like Kyrylo’s father, can’t see his son but they can still connect. I thought it is very touching. It was also beautifully done. [You can watch it here if you want.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWSdwxmrm-E&t=4771s) His reaction to his score is everything (also the awkwardness of trying to hug a Finnish person hahaha. Poor kid. I’d have given him a nice hug. He seems like the sweetest boy).
Anyhow, the coach (Alina Mayer-Virtanen) and her husband (Valtter Virtanen) have also kind of adopted Kyrylo. He lives with them and is trained by them. Valtter Virtanen is also a figure skater and still competing at the ripe old age of 38, 39 (when most singles skaters retire around 25)? It seems like he goes viral every so often and even qualified for Worlds as late as a few years ago? And he is also a medical doctor. If I wrote this in a book, people would say I’m crazy.
What’s with the random misplaced google street view images in the middle of the Sahara? I identified a supermarket in India by googling the brand of chips they were selling. I’ve found other images appearing to be from Brazil and maybe Romania. It also happens with places in the sea as well.
