  1. I heard the that some Iranian Kurd organizations were considering military action to take advantage of a potential power vacuum in Iran. There’s been previous Kurdish rebellion and insurgencies with the biggest one associated with the fall of the Shah in 1979. Iran’s treatment of Kurds is relatively lax for regional standards and it’s probably the the Kurdish region that’s been the most calm recently (Syria, Iraq and Turkey’s Kurdish regions have seen a lot of military action in the past few years). I’m not sure how much support they have, but the Pentagon and Israeli military seem to be encouraging them to do it.

This would probably trigger Turkish intervention though and escalate the crisis even more.

  2. I accidentally killed a fish yesterday and I am still sad about it. I was changing the aquarium water, and a stupid fish got caught in the current and logged in the connecting piece of the hose. I could see it breathe, so I tried to save it for half an hour. Cutting the plastic was just not really doable in a meaningful way without cutting the fish, but after much trial I managed to widen it enough to dislodge the fish with reverse pressure (aka blowing). But though it was gaping it wasn’t moving and was basically crushed, so I just took a cleaver to its head and threw it on the compost bin.

I mean I eat fish, and I even go fishing, so it seems a bit ridiculous to be sad about this but here we go. If I had thought to insert some aquarium sponge or whatever in the inlet, this wouldn’t have happened. Poor fish.

  3. IQM, which is a Finnish quantum computing company and I think the biggest in Europe, is getting listed to Nasdaq which is great to see. All the European ones are private, I think IQM going public can be very good for them and very good for European quantum computing.

Has this ever happened to you: You’re at the grocery store, having gathered all the things you want to buy, walking to the cashier. Right behind you is a person also going to the cashier, but unlike you they have just one item in their hands. So you let them go before you, since you’re in no hurry and it’s just one thing this person is buying, it’ll take a second.

Then the one-item-person spends 5 minutes asking for a brand of cigarettes the cashier has never heard of, choosing 12 different lottery tickets, and paying for all of this with a mixture of coins, card, and bottle return receipts, while you just stand there wondering why you ever try to do anything good.

  4. Parts of the Middle East (Iraq, Syria, Israel , Iran) and Russia have such beautiful and rich history, language, architecture etc and unfortunately the situation there is unsafe, lots of wars or political is shit. These nations are the oldest in the world too!

I would love to visit Moscow and St Petersburg one day once Putin stops going crazy and attacking Ukraine. Their train stations look really cool too! Russians I’ve met abroad are so lovely! they have no filter and tell you things straight.

Why is such beauty ruined by horrible leadership, people or conflict/wars!! Such a shame
