A pelvic exam and a Pap smear are not the same thing. I’m not talking about Pap smears in this post.
I keep seeing online American women talking about getting pelvic exams often, yearly. Maybe every 3 years when they get their pap. I’m in Canada and I’ve never had a pelvic exam. In my social circle of women aged 20-35, none of us have ever had a pelvic exam. I and several women I know have never even taken off our pants in a doctor’s office before.
Are You actually getting these exams every year? If you are having a doctor do a pelvic exam every year, why? What are they looking for?
