(20M) I'm a black man who live In Alabama and lately I’ve realized over the past year that I’m really drawn to alternative women — goth, emo, into games/anime, nerdy stuff, etc. I had a period where i was doing flings and focusing on myself after my last relationship, but now I’m at a point where I want a real relationship again.
I’ve been going to more metal/alt events because I enjoy the music and the scene, but I’ve noticed something confusing: the alt women I approach or talk to usually seem uninterested or very dry with me, both online and in person. Meanwhile, Black women tend to show more interest, approach me first, or give me more positive energy.
I’m trying to understand whether this is just a cultural mismatch, where I live, something about how I’m approaching people, or racial disconnect.
