Was just recently thinking back to my first job after high school. I worked at McDonald’s for $7.25 a hour in New Jersey in 2012. After a year, I got my first raise. My raise was…..a measly 10 cents, so my new wage was $7.35. The next year, the state actually raised the minimum wage to $8.25. I got a “government mandated raise” to $8.25, and my prior 10 cents raise didn’t carry over. So I was back to legally making minimum wage.
