I bought a new Hungarian cookbook when I was in Budapest recently, today I’m going to make something called ‘Hizlalt rostélyos burgonyalángossal’.
Not easy to pronounce for me but hopefully it tastes ok!
What do you think about the Olympics ban on wearing ‘political’ messages on helmets, jackets etc? There was obviously the famous Ukrainian case, but there are also for example the Haitian team that had to remove the figure of an independence hero from their jackets.
Yesterday’s Finland versus Italy ~~bloodbath~~ men’s hockey game ended 11-0, with Finland having 62 shots on goal which is mental. The game is three 20 minutes periods, which means they shot more than 1 shot per minute. The skill difference was really big. I mean, the Italian players are all great athletes, many of them seemed to play in the Swiss league which is a quality league. That’s just no match to those who play in the NHL.
But, as the habitual NBA bench warmer Brian Scalabrine once said, “I’m closer to LeBron than you are to me”.
It’s super sunny but cold today. I decided to watch the men’s parallel moguls and the some monobob. Winter Olympics give me the relief of “well at least nobody broke their neck” that I just don’t get from summer games.
My husband cooked for me for Valentine’s Day. We had sausages and potato salad, and quark with tinned mandarins. Guys I’m beginning to think he’s German. Am I being paranoid?
The podium ceremony of Rally Sweden just finished. They stood there for minutes in just their driving suits, which aren’t super cool but not exactly winter wear either, spraying each other with champagne and I just checked it’s -11°C in Umeå where the rally is based. Must be great to be there in freezing temperatures in your champagne soaked clothes.
Because Toyota has been so good in WRC over the last decade and I watch every race I end up hearing the Japanese national anthem a lot. It sounds very odd compared to many European national anthems, which tend to be more marked, and triumphant. The Japanese national anthem sounds very sorrow and still, it’s a peculiar sound and I think I should study it a bit to see what about the harmony gives me that impression.
