We’re back from [Pamukkale](https://imgur.com/a/Z3NyVbw). It’s famous for a reason, for sure. The surrounding ancient city Hieropolis is very beautiful and there’s still lots of excavations going on. It is possible to walk from the end of the city all the way to Pamukkale Via the ancient road and on the way back take the path on the hill. The weather was a bit grey but at least it was quite empty.
The travertines aren’t that full anymore so the views are less impressive but it’s still possible to bathe your feet in hot water. It’s nice.
My husband kept saying that it wasn’t possible to build stuff like this in Northern Germany because there are no stones. It is crazy how the paved roads and tombs and sarcophagi are still largely intact. I even got into a few tombs. They’re quite cosy.
I wonder what happened to the bones. I didn’t see any.
I drove to central Ohio for an interview. While I was driving there, I got hit by a blizzard; it snowed so hard, I didn’t know this much snow could fall all at once. I bumped into someone else at a slow speed because of a black snow/ice mixture that made it appear I was actually on asphalt. It didn’t seem to do much on my car other than bend some plastic and none on the car I bumped into. I think I need some snow tires if I move there; the winters seem incredibly harsh.
I listened to some radio on my car while driving.
* A Newsmax radio station based in Cincinnati, Ohio that majnly talked about:
1. Illegal immigration
2. Crime
3. Transgender (they seem quite concerned about it affecting the equal opportunity laws around women’s sports. So I guess women’s sports aren’t haram for now)
4. Current events often in relation to the above. Notably framing Trump’s ICE withdrawl from Minnesota as a win.
* a random radio station in Lexington, Kentucky that was mostly apolitical. Main topics were:
1. Electricity grid management: different ownership structures, energy generation methods. One guy said natural gas was the most reliable source of electricity while another worried about its polluting aspects.
2. Bear feces used as an ingredient in alcohol production.
* Two public radio stations based in Kentucky and Tennessee that were run as a partnership between National Public (maybe not that public anymore after their defunding) Radio and universities so probably a bit leftbleaning. Main Topics were:
1. Trump’s ICE doing illegal stuff.
2. The ship sinking by US warships in the carribean being illegal.
3. Trump’s defunding various research projects being illegal.
3. Other news stuff like current events, AI, human interest stories, olympics, etc. They imply that Trump’s withdrawl was a loss for him.
4. Jazz music being played.
My oldest friend group and I have been planning the final session of a long-running DND campaign which was to be held tomorrow. Today, however, I wake up to the message that one of my friends is out sick 😢
Coordinating the game nights is a hassle, cause everyone is in rather different places in life, so it will probably be a good while before we can meet up again…
