Hi, I’m (f22) looking for advice to help my mum (f57) and brother (m17) with getting accommodation after leaving an abusive household. For context my mum is self employed and earns c25k a year and my brother goes to college full time. They have left my dad after many chances to get help and stop being abusive but enough is enough. He is the main breadwinner and pays most of the bills. They live in a rented house so don’t have any assets.
Just looking for some advice on how best to go about getting housing for them as my mum cannot afford to rent privately by herself. I have moved out and they’re currently on my sofa but this is obviously not ideal and they all need their own space. If anyone could give me some advice on how to handle going to the council for accommodation or if we should get in touch with charities then please let me know. I’m scared if they don’t get proper help they’ll go back to the abusive household and nothing will change. Thanks everyone.
