Wouldn’t it be cool if dating apps had a video chat function Omegle style? Minus the NSFW. They would need some sort of AI function that bans anyone who whips their goodies out. This would make it fun and you would be able to quickly see who you slightly connect with. It’s such a bore with these people on dating apps

Edit: I understand you can always just ask someone to FaceTime or call, but this feature could eliminate any potential push back or anxiety with setting up a call with someone you don’t know.

  2. That’s a really good idea honestly because it’s so hard to get a feel for someone just from pictures and words. But it would have to search people in your area the same as the dating apps so you don’t end up in a long distance thing if that’s not what you’re into

  3. I used League for a bit and they had this feature. You go on mini-dates for a few minutes on a video call as part of a speed-dating event

  4. Hinge used to have it. My best friend met his girlfriend on Hinge and they video called on the app before they went on a date – have been together since and are very happy.

    That being said, there are probably a lot of weird blokes out there who would use the feature in a not so nice way… I can imagine for Hinge it was easier to remove it.

  7. Companies who own dating apps (the ones that survived the last 10 years) know how horrifically unprofitable they are. Adding a video chat function would 5x their server costs, there’s no chance that will happen.

  11. Interesting idea but it would be very hard to regulate, just like how Omegle is. People (mainly men) will inevitably use in a predatory fashion.

    A lot of men will also pose as women creating catfish profiles, which they already do btw. And use pre recorded videos to trick men into thinking they’re talking to a real women, and then yes scam them.
