Where’d you place your 5 yr old if you have an aisle seat and a middle seat in a 14 hour flight?

If I place her in the middle seat then she is seating beside a stranger for 14 hours including some time when I will probably be dozing off; If on the aisle then she potentially can fall off or get hit by carts or people in general.
I have this big dilemma, looking forward to hearing what you guys think.
