I recently went private to discuss possible endometriosis since I had been referred but the wait period for referrals was astronomical and the symptoms affect my daily life.
I paid £250 to be left just as clueless as when I first came in. I was prescribed a combined contraceptive pill even tho I have already tried the combined pill before yet had to change to the mini pill due to vomiting whilst menstruating and experiencing migraines with vomiting.
She told me it’s unlikely I have endometriosis since I still had pelvic pain despite being on the mini pill for ten months and wasn’t bleeding. This is medically inaccurate — endometriosis pain isn’t dependent on bleeding, it can happen all cycle round.
I am extremely shocked. She said to come back in a year if symptoms persist and we’ll consider an MRI despite knowing I have been experiencing these problems for 8 years now and having tried many medications for pain relief already.
I can’t believe I have paid for a service like this. Not only was she saying medically inaccurate things but also left me with a pill I have already tried and suffered with and with a year to wait to review again…
Would it even be worth trying to make a formal complaint? Do I even have sufficient grounds?
