Sickness is going around. Hope everyone affected is holding up alright.

In our house, Mom is hacking up a lung, looking bleary, and generally not well.

In 2 days we host Christmas dinner for her side of the family. 20 people. And while I do the cooking, she usually does the cleaning and setup before guests arrive. We already have all the groceries and supplies. Family is traveling 3-5 hours to our place, the most central of everyone.

A few days later we host my family – smaller – only 12 ppl, and usually more emotionally difficult but less demanding with cooking and cleaning.

We (I) am happy to go ahead with the events, but I want her to be comfortable, and I don't want to infect the older folks or the tots.

If momma doesn't recover in time, I'm not sure what the best plan is…

  1. Get Mom a hotel where she can be sick alone?
  2. Cloister her in the master suite? Let guests enter at their peril.
  3. Relocate/Reschedule Christmas dinners?

Any other ideas? What have other folks done?
