So my parents got scammed quite bad Christmas Day 2024. Infiltrated their emails, mobile numbers and almost a lot of money, but was caught soon. 1 year later they’re still feeling the effects of this. Their banks telling them at the time it’s peak time of year for elderly to get scammed this way.
Fast forward to this year I hear of more people (friends elderly parents, etc) also getting scammed. how is this not more widely known and how is there not a national (eg see it say it sorted) style campaign to raise awareness among elderly or the relatives of as they are quite clearly the easiest and most vulnerable target?
