TL;DR My mattress is very uncomfortable for me. Would you say it’s worn out? It has just been turned through 180 degrees so the dips are at the bottom half now. Are they to be expected? If so, what would you recommend as a replacement. I would like to spend about £1k and prefer non memory foam/hybrid mattresses as I don’t like the feel and get too hot. Reticent to buy Hypnos as this one has not lasted well. Is it worth paying more to get more pocket springs? How many is enough?
MODS: I have tried to find out if these dips are acceptable or not and can’t find any specific advice about this. My husband thinks it’s fine but I can’t sleep, although this could just be my chronic pain. I have extensively researched mattresses and replacement mattresses. I am still undecided because the price for high numbers of pocket springs is around £2-3k which is so much money! I have looked this up on Reddit but could only find answers for price range of around £250 and preference for foam and in particular memory foam (I don’t like that kind) so hence I’m creating my own new post about this.
I currently have a Premier Inn Hypnos mattress which I’ve had for 5 years. This is how it looks now. It is very uncomfortable for me but my husband feels like it’s fine. We turned it just before I took this photo so the dips are at the foot end for that reason.
I have chronic pain and I think it needs replacing. Although we’ve only had it for 5 years, I need to lie down/sleep a lot. Neither of us are particularly heavy, I’m currently 9ST 2lbs (was about a stone heavier a year ago) and my husband is probably about 11st. I’m looking to spend about £1k.
I don’t really like memory foam because I hate feeling hot at night and have heard that pillow top mattresses might not last well as they can’t be turned? There seems to be a huge price increase for the higher number of pocket springs but how many is enough?
