Hi Americans!
I’m curious — what hamburger chain do you personally like the most?

It can be a national chain (like McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Five Guys, etc.) or a regional one (In-N-Out, Whataburger, Culver’s, Shake Shack).

  1. Freddy’s/Culvers/In and out

Lace edge smash burgers are the best IMO. Brand is less important than WHO is smashing the patty. Take the time for thin edges cooks!

  2. Five Guys. The burgers are decent but we really go there for the handout fries with malt vinegar.

  3. Depending on my mood: In-N-Out, Fatburger, or the Habit.

Somewhat difficult to get a bad burger in my town.

  4. Five Guys is the special occasion place, but for a standard burger, a Burger King Whopper is what I choose. Wendy’s has decent burgers but their sides and chicken slap. Culver’s is good. All others that I’ve tried are eh.

  5. I’m team Shake Shack, consistently really good. In-n-out has good burgers for the price but their fries are awful which kicks it out of the running. Five Guys is pretty decent but I find the fries a bit too thick and never crispy enough. I recall liking Culvers but haven’t lived near one in forever so haven’t had it in a while. Never tried whataburger.

If I have to go fast food I’d probably pick Wendy’s over the other ones.

  6. Never had Five Guys but my vote is Shake Shack. Even over Culver’s, though it makes me sad to say so as a midwesterner

  7. Probably in n out as a whole but that double western bacon cheeseburger with jalapeños Carl’s Jr had was pretty darn good.

  8. It’s wild to me so many people say 5 guys, even if referencing that they are astronomically overpriced.

It’s not even that it doesn’t taste good, it’s just that they’re the one chain fast food place literally anyone can replicate at home without doing anything special.

If I’m going to pay money for a burger, it will be one I can’t make myself. Whataburger, in and out, Culver’s, shake shack.

I can’t replicate McDonald’s or BK but they’re also super low quality, especially for the price so, no thanks anyway.

I still like Wendy’s but, again, I’m not paying that absurd price.

I feel like there’s a fast food bubble and it’s going to pop spectacularly. The whole idea is affordability. This slop isn’t affordable anymore.

  9. In-N-Out, and it’s not terribly close.

But since that’s pretty exclusive to the west coast, Shake Shack is the runner up.

5 Guys gets the third spot. It’s a lot heavier than the other two though.

  10. The Portland, Oregon metro area has Burgerville that was really good until the last couple years. Seattle has Dick’s Drive in that’s good too.

You’ll get a lot of regional answers to a question like this.

  11. In-n-Out or Culver’s.

But Steak ‘n Shake and Freddy’s are both pretty damn good too.

  12. In-N-Out is the best, but can’t go wrong with McDonalds. It’s the biggest for a reason
