I've just read this article on the BBC which states that places in the country, the cost of some children's care homes can reach upwards of £30,000 a week to place a child and I'm just wondering why and how the care home can charge such a rate? Surely the cost of a placement in one of these homes shouldn't cost more than 3 times what it cost the NHS to keep a patient in intensive care for a week (£1881 per day/£13,167 per week)
How and why is it so expensive?
