In the US we usually don’t give any hints to how a person died. All that is stated is that the person died and is survived by X relatives.
I was searching for people who went to my high school who unfortunately died since graduating and I came across one female student who was three years younger than me.
In short, she was born in Germany, moved to the US, then moved to Moscow, then moved back to the US. Her parents last name indicate her parents were from the UK.
On her obituary it says, “Jane went upstairs to her room to do homework, and then quietly, with the door closed, she took her own life.”
Her obituary is the first one I’ve ever seen to essentially give the cause of death. I wanted to know if it’s common for people in European countries to give specifics to how someone died on their obituary or if this is just a rare occurrence.
