What phrases from tv or film or adverts have you seen become part of UK language even though the original source has largely been forgotten? I'll start
'Does what it says on the tin.'
Meaning something is very straightforward or as described. From an advert for Ronseal wood paint.
'The perfect storm'.
A confluence of conditions or events favourable for a certain outcome. From a book and film from 2000 that I don't think I've ever seen.
'A sliding doors moment'
A moment in time when your life could have forked in a different direction. From a 1998 Gwyneth Paltrow film
'A marmite person/thing'.
Something or someone that people either love or hate. From the savoury spread adverts.
There must be loads of other examples
