Given that kids are in school at 8am, even in cases where they finish school early enough (eg 4pm) and close enough to go to a GP surgery, how do they get appointments?
For example, teens with a mental health or neurodevelopmental concern who have parents who don't believe in mental health or consider it an insult for their kid to be unhappy despite food on the table, those suffering a physical or mental health problem that is a consequence of abuse by their parent/guardian, those who are otherwise unsafe to disclose health issues to a parent, or whose parents generally dismiss their health. It may be a very personal health issue they wouldn't tell a teacher.
Does the government and NHS ridiculously expect kids to skip school? Or they simply don't consider all scenarios?
