TL;DR; : In a serious relationship with a foreigner girl for 10 months seeking advice
Hi everyone,
I '24M' will be 25 in 3 months in a serious relationship with a woman who is '29F'. We’ve known each other for a while, and things have become genuinely meaningful. She is caring, mature, and has been one of the best influences in my life. She is a foreigner and recently I visited her and she treated me very well.
I didn't know that she is 29F, during this trip I got to know about it and she didn't have courage to tell me because she could have lost me. But i checked her passport which made a not so good situation.
I have known her for 10 months now. She is emotional and sensitive person.I feel safe and secure with her.
I am a software engineer and have 3 years of experience.
The only issue is the age difference.
My mother is very emotional and traditional. I know that the moment age comes up, her first question will be:
“How many years difference?”
She is likely to worry about things like:
“She’s older than you?”
“Will this affect your future?”
“What will relatives say?”
I want to tell my mother the right way, without hurting her or creating unnecessary drama.
My questions:
-
How do I break this to my mother in a calm, respectful way?
-
How do I reassure her emotionally and logically?
-
Has anyone here managed a similar age-gap situation with parents in India (or similar cultural background)?
-
What worked for you, and what absolutely did NOT work?
-
If parents doesn't agree then what option I have?
