What would you rather have the talent of a genius comedian or a genius musician? Which one feels more appealing to you, and why?

  1. This is a tough call to make you genius question maker.

I’d be a genius musician for two reasons:
    – Music needs no language
    – I’m funny enough to survive already.

  2. I’d rather be a musician. I can’t imagine wanting or needing to get my validation out of making people laugh. Especially being a woman: Men are fucking awful to female comedians, and I don’t want to have to deal with that nonsense.

  3. Comedian. Any layperson can appreciate a funny joke, but most people can’t tell the difference between an average professional musician and a genius professional musician.

  4. I think I would like to be a genius comedian. There’s nothing like the feeling of making someone laugh

  5. Comedian, I think. There’s not enough trans comedians and I’ve already got some funny stories to tell.

  6. Musician. I’m a huge fan of comedy, but imo the truly genius comedians are not appreciated by the majority of people. And comedians tend to be quite prone to mental illnesses. It doesn’t help that you have to get in front of people who seem to hate you for no reason and your job mainly relies on interaction.

One of the things that’s more appealing about being a musician is that you get to make music wherever the heck you are, even when you’re alone. But you can also get together with others and create something new.

  7. A musician. To me, music is such an incredibly powerful medium that i’d love to be able to express myself in proficiently.

  8. Musician. I always wanted to learn to play the piano. I have a keyboard that I got in high school (many years ago), and I took two beginner classes and then a couple of semesters of lessons in college. I still can’t play the piano, but I still have that keyboard, and all my music books, 30+ years later, just in case.

On the other hand, I hate speaking in public or being the center of attention, so trying to be a comedian just sounds awful to me. I could play music just for myself, or family and friends, etc. but having comedy skills isn’t really as “useful” to me, being a bit of an introvert.

  9. Musician every time.

I love singing and to be able to make music too would be a dream.

  10. Musician for sure, I am friends with a very famous band and and they let me warm up the drums for them after the opening act and right before they went on stage and it was a rush. I do love a good laugh but comedians are even more fucked up than rockstars and that is saying something.

  11. Comedian. A genius musician can be stuck in their own head but comedian is observing the life around.

  12. Musician. I’m already really funny to the people I care about, but I can’t play any instruments very well.

  13. Music even if I never make tons of money or become famous.

You can entertain yourself with music and other and there is always multiple variations of a song.

Most comedians just seem like assholes and a lot of popular ones don’t seem funny. Very few comedians do it for a lifetime they hit big for a few years and then fall apart or do some boring bro podcast.

  14. I’m genuinely a pretty good comedian and pretty good musician. Wouldn’t say I’m a genius in either, but I’m definitely unpaid in both!

  15. Musician, i love music and would like to be able to play guitar/drums, cannot stand comedians.. its extremely rare for me to find them funny, holds no appeal to me to become one

  16. Comedian. I’d like to find humor in everything.

I already appreciate music but I don’t want to create it.

  17. As someone who is both, I’d want to be a comedy genius. Today, achieving success in music is way more connection and wealth dependent than skill or intelligence. Throw a rock into any dive bar and you’ll hit a musical genius who isn’t doing it for a living. In fact tons of comics I know, and myself, have given up music and taken up comedy.

Wealth and connections go far in comedy too, but it’s yet to be what music has become with the likes of Daniel Ek at the helm. I’m not exaggerating when I say Daniel Ek being alive is detrimental to humanity.

  18. Musician. I already sing and play a bit of keyboard, guitar and recorder. I would love to be extremely talented.

  19. Musician. I’m already funny enough for the people in my life, but I would love to play an instrument (or several) better than the D-tier I’m at now.
