I realised after a conversation with my wife that I have never asked my male friends this. Is it just a me thing? It’s a bit of an odd one to bring up in conversation as a question.

Rarely I wake up with a full on erection, but the reality is I’m bursting for the toilet.

  1. Yep the ol’ piss boner. I get that one sometimes. Super annoying when you wake up in the night to pee but have to wait for the chubby to go away first.

  2. I’ve definitely had that happen in the morning …I think I’m ready to go and then I pee and the party ends abruptly

  3. Yep. I just assumed it’s the body’s way to hold things in when you really have to go and you’re still asleep. Could be completely wrong though.

  4. Yeah, I always figured it’s just my body’s built-in alarm clock for when I need to pee. Then I’m stuck wrestling the damn thing just to get it to deflate enough for me to sit down cause, y’know, obviously I’m rocking the full Rasputin situation.

  5. Yup, that’s perfectly normal. From what I understand, it’s essentially just your body making sure everything works while you sleep.

Happened to me almost daily when I was younger. Now it’s a little less frequent.

  6. It’s definitely possible that a full bladder could be related to a nocturnal erection, as they could stimulate the sacral nerves. But men also regularly get nocturnal erections during REM throughout the sleep cycle. They assist with penile health and occur without sexual arousal, though you may decide you are ready for some sexual activity if you awake during a cycle with an erection. The erections you are waking up with could be a combination of those.

  7. I sleep terrible, waking up 10+ times a night. Every time I wake up, and when I wake in the morning, I’m at full attention as if I was a teenager….

  8. Quite often. Both because I’m horny and sometimes I need to pee. Lol. 34 and grateful for my bodily function

  9. Honestly I don’t remember the last time I woke up with a stiffy. I know it’s happened a few times but I think they were mostly when I was a teenager. It was never an everyday-thing.

I feel like a normal healthy guy now, I’ve gotten blood work done by my doctor recently and there was nothing concerning and I don’t have any problems getting it up when I need to. I just don’t wake up with it hard.
