Looking for actual accounts not speculation. I've always wondered what steps lead people to actually use them, as I can't imagine anyone who would use a knife for bad intent would. But I don't understand why someone with good intentions would get a knife anyway. So either the local police fb posts I see of knife bin hauls are fake or there's other reasons people use the bins. Do people just treat them as somewhere safe to dispose of an unwanted knife incase putting it in a bin hurt someone who processes rubbish? Or parents finding them in their wannabe roadman children's rooms? Or do people actually consider bad intent but change their minds?

What reasons have you seen people use personally for using them (or your own reasons if you're brave enough to admit)?

Edit: spelling and clarity, wrote this very sleep deprived. Look like people mostly just use them for getting rid of legitimately used knives though
